Tempting People to live Righteousness

Before I start this blog I would like to give a small example , christian life can be lived by 2 ways, it is similar to getting in shape

Assume you are in shape , you are a gym instructor. You are a noble gym instructor. You want to see everybody get in shape and be fit, there in fact like being a christian, there are two approaches.

One you can tell everyone what it takes to be fit( say you are so excited  at first you want to see everyone with 6 packs, strong thighs, ..etc.)

You go around showing people the fumbles in your gym, say you have to lift those heavy dumbles.

People get scared looking at it, and worry what if I drop it on my head or something. Then OK you lower your standard, you tell people to do dips, slightly easier less dangerous.

People try it , say “OK how many do I have to do?”
You say “At least 20 a day “

People get shocked say 20, that’s allot I can’t hardly do one, then you look down and nod your head, then you lower your standard even lower.

Look there’s the treadmill, try it out. People try it out .
One guy says “Hey this is easy, simple I can easily do this. I can do this once a week”
You say “No you have to do this everyday”.
He say’s “I have work every day “.
You say “Wake up at 5 in the morning”
He looks at you shocked and walks away.

You give up, but you see another gym instructor doing well. You are shocked wondering how low did he get people to not only sign up, but pay him.

You see him showing pictures like this, saying you can look like this for putting in medium amount of work. He tells people benefit
Or like this girl.

He explains to people, they can fit into very nice Jeans, look good in any dress. You look shocked, people were actually willing to do all that you told them to do. But what was the difference between him and you. You told them what to do, but he gave them the vision of what they will achieve by doing what he tells them to do.

Matthew 19:27,28

Peter answered him, “We have left everything to follow you! What then will there be for us?”

Jesus replied, “I assure you that when the world is made new and the Son of Man sits upon his glorious throne, you who have been my followers will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

Jesus wants us to live a righteous life, but his approach is not like that of the first gym leader, not the second.

Remember we are right

Genesis 17:1

When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the LORD appeared to him and said, “I am God Almighty; walk before me faithfully and be blameless.

We see God did tell Abraham to be  faithful to him, but that’s not the way he approached Abraham.

This is how he approached Abraham

Genesis 12 1-3

Now the Lord had said to Abram:

“Get out of your country,
From your family
And from your father’s house,
To a land that I will show you.
I will make you a great nation;
I will bless you
And make your name great;
And you shall be a blessing.
I will bless those who bless you,
And I will curse him who curses you;
And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”

This how God approached Abraham, sounds familiar it is similar to to the second gym instructor.

Remember you  are righteous by receiving grace by faith, not by our works.
