God created us with free will. The question is what does it mean to be free. The meaning of freedom as far as dictionary is concerned it is :
“the power or right to act, speak, or think as one wants.”
Another meaning is :
So when God created us, he gave us free will. What did Confucius mean by that by saying the statement above.
For example when we don’t take ourselves seriously. We can allow us to get manipulated. If your words are not taken seriously, he or she does not wish to be driven in the direction of our opinion. Most often conflict of opinion happens over who is in power of taking the decision and not the content. It is the context that matters.
God too has given us freedom.
Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.
Words are powerful, haven’t you heard the tongue is mightier than the sword.
God has given us the power to choose over life and death.
As it is said in the Deuteronomy.
I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:
This verse came up when God was persuading his people to turn away from other Gods and come back to worship him as his fathers did.
God was pretty serious when he said this statements. Both the blessings and curses were pretty intense.
God does not force us into his will to display is power like People, organisations in power have done like Hitler,Stalin,Communist governments etc. But he displays his awesome power through awesome intensity the blessing and curses.
I mean it is really intense . Everyone who have accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior will live in this awesome mind boggling city.
the holy[h] Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God, 11 having the glory of God. Her light was like a most precious stone, like a jasper stone, clear as crystal. 12 Also she had a great and high wall with twelve gates, and twelve angels at the gates, and names written on them, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the children of Israel: 13 three gates on the east, three gates on the north, three gates on the south, and three gates on the west.
14 Now the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and on them were the names[i] of the twelve apostles of the Lamb. 15 And he who talked with me had a gold reed to measure the city, its gates, and its wall. 16 The city is laid out as a square; its length is as great as its breadth. And he measured the city with the reed: twelve thousand furlongs. Its length, breadth, and height are equal. 17 Then he measured its wall: one hundred and forty-four cubits, according to the measure of a man, that is, of an angel.18 The construction of its wall was of jasper; and the city waspure gold, like clear glass. 19 The foundations of the wall of the city were adorned with all kinds of precious stones: the first foundation was jasper, the second sapphire, the third chalcedony, the fourth emerald, 20 the fifth sardonyx, the sixth sardius, the seventh chrysolite, the eighth beryl, the ninth topaz, the tenth chrysoprase, the eleventh jacinth, and the twelfth amethyst. 21 The twelve gates were twelve pearls: each individual gate was of one pearl. And the street of the city waspure gold, like transparent glass.
That is the height of Gods ability when we in faith receive the Christ and savior.
God is a awesome sovereign, all powerful God.
6 And He said to me, “It is done![c] I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. I will give of the fountain of the water of life freely to him who thirsts. 7 He who overcomes shall inherit all things,[d] and I will be his God and he shall be My son.
But for rest he has displayed his power through wrath
8 But the cowardly, unbelieving,[e] abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.”
But his cursing as he has mentioned in the last is horrible place much worse than the present hell.
God giving us free will does not make him any weaker. Because human realm of powerful means having control. God shows his greatness and power in response to faith, his love and mercy to those faithless, non believers, murdered, sexually immoral, sorcerers and idolaters.
Its funny how cowardly followed by unbelievers are mentioned before
Murders, sexually immoral sorcerers and idolaters. It is very interesting but it belongs in another discussion of its own.
But either ways God is not mocked.
Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows
The above verse is for people in grace who take advantage of Gods grace. This is written by Paul the apostle the advocate of Grace of God through faith in Christ.
For if a man sins even after being Christian, he does not mock God but deceives himself. He ends hurting himself. As it is written and man reaps what he sows. The harvest usually take time. People expect when people do bad things, bad things don’t happen because they don’t see anything bad happen immediately. Harvest takes time likewise bad things to happen to those who does them in time.
A very morbid way to put it although it is a necessary explanation for those confused people against Grace. This is the expected rate of return for both Faithful and Lawless.
Although a question arises can one fake it. By saying the right words. In this Jesus rebukes the Pharisees
O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.
We usually have to strain ourselves when we have to speak that is just politically correct. But what is in our only has real meaning and power .By words men have changed the world. But not for just idle words but for words spoken by men like love, freedom, justice, liberty men have given up their lives.
So the choice of life and death is in our hands. Its like steering wheel of a titanic. Sure the wheel is very very small compared to the hull of titanic or any other part. But it can turn the entire ship in a direction both safe and dangerous paths.
Like wise free will is like that small steering wheel. Tiny it maybe, even feels insignificant but has extraordinary consequences.
